Innovative Housing Solutions
Research has revealed that England has a backlog of almost four million homes. Modular commercial construction is the perfect solution to this housing problem, with the ability to deliver high-quality housing in a cost-effective and timely manner. There is also a demand for more sustainable, environmentally-friendly homes which conform to the government’s 2050 net-zero carbon plans. Not only can modular homes offer a solution to the general housing shortage, they are also set to have a huge impact in the area of social housing. Social housing makes up 17% of the overall housing market and is a low-cost alternative to home ownership for people who may not be able to access the private market.
Modular house-building is also an incredibly valuable solution in the push to tackle homelessness in our society. A recent modular housing project by the Cambridge Centre for Housing & Planning Research had the aim of combining modern methods of construction and supported living in order to provide housing for people experiencing homelessness. The project was hugely successful and there has since been considerable interest in developing similar initiatives further afield. One of the noted learning experiences from the project was that the team was very new and was training as they were going along which lead to additional costs not within the project budget. We have the capability to avoid these additional costs as a result of our design and engineering process, which ensures that the modular systems selected from the onset are planned and used. Our extensive experience sourcing and manufacturing with these materials ensures projects are delivered on-time and within budget.
Innovating in the private sector is desperately needed to disrupt the housing market and meet the current housing demand, and that is the backbone of our strategy at Jans Modular.
