A Spanish student from Villalobon Palencia, Spain has completed a semester-long work placement with Jans Offsite Solutions as part of the Erasmus programme.
Studying Industrial Design and Product Development Engineering at the University of Valladolid, in Spain, Alba Sanchez Santana has been working with the modular builds company with specific responsibility for designing 3D assemblies and parts used to cost, build and produce the company’s modular builds glamping pods, holiday lodges and social housing.
In her role of Assistant Design Engineer she has also produced technical drawings used by Offsite Solutions engineering and design team.
The work placement forms part of her four-year degree course in engineering which she completed in 2021.
Alba says: “Working at Offsite Solutions I have been able to gain valuable experience and build my confidence within the workplace. I’ve also had the chance to work on some very prestigious modular built projects including a 30 x 16 ft modular bar with bespoke interior fit out for a client in Hull, a series of garden rooms and even luxurious cinema rooms. Working hand in hand with the team at Offsite Solutions team I have advanced my technical ability and skills using a range of programmes including solidworks. Of course, the Erasmus programme has not only been about work. I have met many new people and forged lifelong friendships during my time here too.”
Gavin Kincaid, General Manager of Offsite Solutions said: “We take part in this exchange programme every year. We are always delighted to take part in the Erasmus programme and welcome international students to our company. It is a great programme for both students and for Offsite Solutions; students benefit from the opportunity to develop their skills, confidence and spoken English, while the company benefits from world perspective and new talent. Alba has been pivotal to the growth of the company and has made a valuable contribution to the business. We shall be sorry to lose her but wish her good luck as she transitions to the next stage of her learning and career.”
